About the Presenter
Michael Opitz, Ph.D., is a professor of elementary education at the University of Northern Colorado and the winner of its Outstanding Scholar Award in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. A former elementary teacher and reading specialist, Michael continues to work in classrooms throughout the U.S. and abroad. He is a highly sought-after speaker who is recognized for his practical approach to literacy instruction.
He is the author of several books, including the newly released, Comprehension and English Language Learners (2009). Other books include Flexible Grouping in Reading (1998), and Literacy Instruction for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students (1998), Good-bye Round Robin, Updated Edition (2008), Do-able Differentiation (2008), Books & Beyond (2007), Listen Hear! (2004), Reaching Readers (2001), and Rhymes and Reasons (2000).
