Overview

This is the first story in the sequence of Gato Goloso books.  It has the same humorous and highly detailed illustrations as the other books in the series, but a very simple text.  There is a lot of action in the book, but repetition allows for a high degree of independence.

Purpose

This book allows a new reader to experience the success of relatively independent reading.  It features a character that readers will meet in other books in the guided reading series – ¿Qué le gusta al Gato Goloso?, El Gato Goloso tiene hambre, and Vino el Gato Goloso.

Setting the scene

If the children have met the Gato Goloso in a shared reading situation, you could use this as an introduction to the session.  If the Gato Goloso
is a new character to the group, draw on their background experience of cats.

Read the title text to the group.
