Overview

This book focuses on the daily movement of a beautiful flower.  Since the sunflower actually turns to the sun throughout the day, the name of the flower becomes the word pattern that is repeated on every page.  Children can look at the illustrations or drawings of the clock to see what time of day it is.  The photographs of the girl draw children into the story and enhance the ending.

Purpose

This book not only informs children about sunflowers, but also teaches sequencing and time of day.  Students can learn the vocabulary for the
different times of day and also learn to read the clocks.  It will be interesting to focus on the word girasol itself, because the name expresses what the sunflower does – gira al sol.
