Overview

Francisco has a difficult assignment in this book.  He has to bring a collection of 100 things to school!  Common household objects are considered as he travels from family member to family member, finally discovering what he needs in the kitchen!  The repetitive text pattern and photographs clearly reflect Francisco’s search.

Purpose

This is a perfect book to use in relation to math.  Children can count by tens and write out numbers in word format.  The repetitive pattern and use of speech dashes will help them with their own writing, and they can also talk about their own collections.

Setting the scene

Discuss the front cover of the book.

Read the title and other information together.
