Overview

Young students will easily relate to this story about the different characteristics of children’s pets.  The repetitive text pattern and lively photographs will help the children successfully read the story.  Two pages with rhyme will help them understand the opposites that describe certain animals.

Purpose

This is a good book for teaching the idea of opposites.  It could be used as part of a unit on animals.

Setting the scene

Begin by discussing pets that the children might have at home.

Read the cover information and look at the picture.

• ¿Qué animal es?
